“Baby Necessities”
Holy Cross is collecting baby items for the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) at University Hospital. The NICU serves many indigent uninsured families who do not have the necessities to properly care for their babies. The hospital relies on donations to provide these necessities to the families. The need never stops. They are constantly in need of blankets, 4 oz. bottles, sleepers and onesies. The sleepers and onesies should be in the 0-3 month size. The blankets can be purchased receiving blankets, or home sewn, knitted or crocheted.
Susan Gill made her first delivery to the Hospital in September. Below is a picture of the donations that were delivered. Donations included:
60 Blankets
· 64 Receiving Blankets
· 32 Sleepers
· 72 Onesies
· 6 Hats
· 7 pair Booties
· 3 Sleeping Gowns
· 9 Baby Bottles
· 27 Other Items (towels, washcloths, burp cloths, etc.
· $155.00 that was used to buy material to make 25 no-tie fleece blankets
Susan would like to make the next delivery in early December. The hospital tries to put gift bags together for the babies at Christmas with new items like sleepers, bottles, rattles, and perhaps tiny stuffed animals, appropriate for a baby. And the other items are always needed.
