Mentoring With Pastor

The Faith Practice "encourage" includes one on one mentoring. Pastor Tim Swanson would like to grow  this aspect of our ministry by meeting with 2-4 persons this year once a month.

Two possibilities would be just one person with pastor or two persons with pastor. the purpose would be to learn to share scripture, prayer and faith stories. As each person feels the ability to be a mentor, then they would be coupled with another person to do the same.

Growing new disciples is one person at a time. One on one allows the trust and the time to move deeper into questions of faith.

                       Luke 6:38

"It is no accident that to follow him meant cleaving to him bodily. This was the natural consequences of the incarnation. Had he been merely a prophet or a teacher, he would not have needed followers, but only pupils and hearers. But since he is the incarnate Son of God who came in human flesh, he needs a community of followers who will participate not merely in his teaching but also in his body. The disciples have communion with him. That is why they must bear the burden of the cross. In him the are all born and taken up." -Bonhoeffer, "The Cost of Discipleship"

“For God has destined us not for wrath but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake orasleep we may live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing.”
 —
1 Thessalonians 5:9-11

Mentoring Group with Pastor Tim include 3-4 persons who gather twice a month to share scripture both in devotion and discussion: discuss faith issues that emerge. Each group will help define the directions it wants to move.

Wednesday group meets the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 7 pm.

Thursday group meets the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 7 pm.
Pastor is mentoring one on one twice a month.
Beginning in May or June,
it is hoped to form a third group scheduled either the second and fourth Wednesday of the month or Tuesdays (twice a month). If you are interested, please speak with Pastor.
